Join Me at the Republic restaurant on April 12th
Support Food & Friends on April 12th
Come and have dinner with me at Republic restaurant in Takoma Park, MD on April 12, 2018 to benefit Food & Friends. On that day I will serve as a Restaurant Host, welcoming restaurant guests and letting them know about the work that Food & Friends does. Republic will be donating 50% of your bill to Food & Friends. 75 restaurants in the greater DC area will donate 25-100% of their sales back to support the mission of Food & Friends.
As you all know, I retired about a year ago and I have become a volunteer at Food & Friends. Food & Friends delivers medically-tailored meals to adults and children who are living with life-challenging illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer. Six days a week, Food & Friends’ home-delivered meals and nutrition counseling services are provided free of charge to more than 2,800 people living in the greater DC area.
Food & Friends began about 30 years ago bringing food and friendship to those with AIDS. I knew about their great work and wanted to volunteer and support their activities. F&F expanded the delivery of food to other challenged groups and they moved into my area of town. I have been volunteering for four months, helping to prepare and package foods for delivery.
In addition to the donation from Republic for your dinner meal, I have set a goal to raise at least $500.00 to support the efforts of Dining Out for Life and the mission of Food & Friends. Please help support me if you can. For information about Food & Friends and this event, you can visit www.foodandfriends.org/DiningOut.
You may be able to make a reservation at Open Table but perhaps not. I will be there by 5:30
